Cabin in the woods

(Concluding part)

North gripped my arm, "C'mon, let's go, no use wasting time,"
I nodded. There was just barely enough light to see out way. True to her word, the old woman had led them right to the road.
The bundle in my arms was feeling suspiciously heavy. North noticed right away.
"Let's ditch those. We can just buy snacks when we get back,"
I saw the sense in that, but I hugged the bundle possessively. For whatever reason, I felt anger that North even suggested I drop it.
"It's okay," I said evenly, "I can carry it,"
North gave me a weird look but she eventually shrugged. We travelled in silence for a while.
"There! I see the exit!" North said excitedly, "See! This was fun!"
I was about to sarcastically agree with her when I felt a chill travel down my back. I turned around.
"What's wrong?" North asked.
I turned around and saw nothing. I shook my head. I was just being paranoid.
"Let's go," I said urgently. I didn't want to be in the woods for any longer than I needed to be.
North nodded. We tried to calm ourselves, but we practically began running towards the exit.
"Ooh, what a pretty bag you have in your hands,"
My steps faltered. I looked at North but she was just as startled as I was. Neither of us had spoken. We turned around slowly, North still clinging on to me tightly.
Before us stood the tallest man we'd ever seen. He loomed over us, the size of one of the smaller trees in the forest. He smiled the same way the old woman had.
"Uh, yeah, thanks, we'll just be going now," North said, dragging me backwards.
We didn't make it back a single step when we flinched. We turned around, only seeing that there was something in the darkness that we couldn't make out. Like a hungry tiger, it paced all around us. There was more than one of them.
"What is going on?" North asked, clearly distressed.
I couldn't find my voice, so North turned around and spoke to the hulking man, "Let us go,"
The man snickered, which made me want to bolt. And I would have, if we weren't surrounded by the shadowy creature.
"But sweetie, my wife has marked you. I would be a terrible husband in I didn't eat you now. She'd be terribly disappointed," I didn't understand what in the world he was saying, but North seemed to.
"Wes, drop the thing," she whispered, gesturing to the bundle in my arms.
I glared at her, "No way!"
"That's a good child," the man smiled, "No come to me,"
My feet moved on its own accord but North was faster than that. She grabbed the bundle in my arms and, despite how hard I fought for it, she tore it from my arms and threw it at the man with terrifying strength.
North stood frozen for a minute as the man screamed like a wounded animal. I finally came to my senses. Grabbing North's hand, I practically dragged her out of the gates.
"What was that?!" North yelled, looking back.
But the woods were empty.
"I have no idea," I mumbled, collapsing to my knees, not daring to turn by back towards the forest.
"And you said horror movies weren't real," North said shakily.
I was probably in shock, because all I could say to that was, "Let's never go on an adventure again,"
"But that was fun!"
I glared at her.
