Ex-state minister Nurul Islam dies

Former state minister for Religious Affairs Maulana Nurul Islam died of old-age complications at a hospital in capital Dhaka early Sunday morning. He was 87.

Our Sarishabari correspondents reports, Islam breathed his last at the Apollo Hospital at about 5:30am.

The former Awami League state minister left behind his wife, three sons, three daughters and a host of relatives and followers to mourn the death.

Jamalpur's Sarishabari upazila AL president Sanowar Hossain Badsha said the politician will be buried his village home in Pakhimara.

He was elected the first Sarishabari upazila chairman during Ershad regime.
