Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds

It is equally surprising to observe that a valiant freedom fighter and nationally famed and acclaimed man for his noble work in establishing and successfully running Gono Shasto Kendro for decades as its trustec now turned a BNP think tank joining in JOF, Dr. Jafar Ullah Chowdhury recently provoked violence and chaos as leaked from his telephonic conversation becoming viral in social media, audio footage of which came in almost all electronic media for consumption of viewers with shaking the confidence of the viewers who believe that a man of Dr. Jafarullah's stature cannot degrade himself to such a level where morality has no place.

A reputed physician turned politician to become the founding Secretary General of BNP, Professor Badruddoza Chowdhury ornamented the Presidency of the country under BNP's nomination. To his misfortune he had to relinquish the Presidency and was disgracefully removed from Bangabhaban by BNP and at one stage of his political career he formed Bikalpa Dhara only to be chased by BNP's goons and run along rail line to save his life.

Centring on upcoming election, his Bikalpa Dhara with some other small political outfits formed Jukto Front, (JF) and in agreement with Dr Kamal Hossain, initially joined the Jatiyo Oikkya Front (JOF) subject to condition that he would not shake hand with any anti-liberation war forces remaining as stake holder in JOF either covertly or overtly. Realizing that BNP as a major player in JOF is not to divorce Jamaat, Prof. Chowdhury with his Jukto Front soon aparted from JOF with moral ground not to become part of JOF where Jamaat clandestinely exists under the sleeve of BNP.

It is learned, of late, that Prof Chowdhury's Jukto Front is negotiating with Awami League to join its Mohajote towards participating in the election despite the fact that Prof. Chowdhury in his track record of a regular T.V show preached in intriguing loud voice earlier that if Awami League comes to power, Azaan will be replaced by Ulu dhoni (sound uttered by Hindus on festive occasions) and the holy Quran will be replaced by Geeta in the country. Prof. Chowdhury's those misleading and concocted preaching design to spread communal hatred still remains afresh in public memory to assess as to under what degree of moral aberration, a political leader goes to the extent of befooling people with morally denigrated and utterly fabricated connotation.

With due respect to the above noted few political stalwarts of JOF, I am of opinion that all of them come from their bright political background in the past and all of them contributed in their own field of political activism towards shaping an independent Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In their past political career, all of them have stood the test of time to be patriots, as I want to believe, with the spirit of liberation war holding in their political psyche in high esteem. But with the wind of changes, it is not understood, under what circumstances and pretext they have joined an alliance under which fold, anti-liberation forces who do not believe in the existence of Bangladesh and their political ally--a large political party who do not recognize Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the father of nation with dastardly making controversy over the settled issue of declaration of Independence by Bangabandhu at the first hour of March 26, 1971 and vainly attempt to install General Ziaur Rahman as declarer of independence and further stepping loathsomely into the spree of cutting cake in celebration of fake birth day on National Mourning Day to undermine and smear the gravity of the day; have taken shelter in the JOF to press their demand, most of which do not go with the provision of constitution, for fair, free and credible election.

It is good to see, of late, that a good sense has prevailed in JOF with its arms BNP and Jamaat to participate in the upcoming national election with the election symbol of BNP's paddy sheaf. Let us hope that the election will be held peacefully with maintaining all civility and democratic norms and a Liberation War friendly political front will come out victorious to uphold the flambeau of the spirit of Liberation War for ages to come in the soil of Bangladesh.

Coming back to the prelude of this write-up I would like to draw a conclusion that the luminosity of bright stars in the political firmament fade and lose grandeur when they run out of their fuel and become white dwarf only because of their own follies and aberration from the core values of independent Bangladesh like lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.
