EC to ensure safe environment for women during polls, says Kabita

Election Commission (EC) will try to ensure safe environment for woman voters during the election period, said commissioner Kabita Khanam on Tuesday.

She came up with the assurance at a workshop arranged by the UNDP on ‘Gender and election’ in Rajshahi city.

“Half of the country’s voters are women. Election Commission will try to ensure a safe environment for women voters during the election period,” said Kabita.

Replying to a query about rejection of candidacies in Rajshahi, the commissioner said the deputy commissioner has been asked to issue certified copies among the candidates by today (Tuesday).
