Philately is making a comeback

After good many years, philately in Bangladesh appeared to have made a grand attempt to revive much of its lost glory.  The first five days of December marked the event Stamp show Dhaka 2018. A section of the national museum's ground floor was allotted to a number of collectors to exhibit their philatelic items ranging from postage stamps, aerogram, first day cover, and colonial era stamp papers to a whole lot of items. Stamps and related items were sold and exchanged as never before. In short, collecting stamps and philatelic items seemed making a comeback.
Talking to a couple of collectors about their exhibits, it seemed philately has not become a hobby of the past as of now. But at the recently ended stamp show, it was individual collectors' thematic collections that stole the show. It's not possible to go into details of all the items of all collectors, but to give an example, collector Saiful Islam's category of philatelic exhibits ranged between 10 categories on different individual themes like - Islamic heritage, world aerogramme, university postcards, and Bangladesh postal order items to Bangabandhu stamp covers. Another renowned dealer and collector Eqbal Majid's exhibits consisted of curious collection of merchandises and showpieces of philatelic tools. They both believe, such exhibitions will revitalize the king of hobbies in the coming days.
However, it was stimulating and full of hope by the large crowds to take enthusiasm in philately. Their vibrant presence once more echoed of the famous saying by Claude Stanush - The great collectors of stamps were all men of passion. If they did not have passion when they started collecting, they soon developed it, for there is no mistress so demanding as stamps.
