Farmer hacked to death

A farmer was hacked to death by unknown assailants in his betel leaf garden in Sadar upazila of Meherpur early Wednesday.

Deceased Minarul Islam, 35, son of Khaksar Ali, was a resident of village Baliarpur. He worked at a brick field.

Meherpur Sadar Police Station OC Rabiul Islam said Minarul went to see his betel leaf garden on Tuesday evening. But he did not return home till late night.
Later, his members found the body in the garden early hours and informed police.

Being informed, a police team went to the scene and recovered the body bearing injury marks.

An investigation is on to find out the reason behind the death, the OC said.
