State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said the government will give more focus on the development of country's energy sector to maintain the pace of sustainable development in future.
"We had given more time for the development of the power sector in the previous years. Now, we'll concentrate more on the energy sector," he told the officials of his ministry who gathered to greet him at Bidyut Bhaban on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reappointed Hamid as State minister for the second time for power, energy and mineral resources.
"Our main goal is to establish democracy and rule of law along with development of blue-economy, maritime resources, expansion of modern facilities to every village and make the young group into a skilled workforce," he said this while exchanging views with the officials.
The state minister also directed the officials to have a mindset to work 24/7 a month.
The minister suggested that the officials should not feel hesitation in making any decision. "You have to take decisions promptly instead of making any delay on any issue," he said.
As Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina holds the portfolio of his ministry, Nasrul Hamid described it as a rare opportunity for him to work under her direct supervision.
He said he will devise plans for his ministry in the next three months and then go for implementing those in the next four and half years. "Our main target will be the year of 2021 and all plans will be made keeping in mind that target," he added.
He also warned all against corruption. He said that the rapid expansion of electricity will help to transform villages into towns.
He urged officials for taking quick decision instead of indecision, adding, "We have to bag top position in future by implementing projects like previous tenure."
He also urged the officials to work sincerely to reach uninterrupted and affordable power facilities to the door steps of people.
Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, PDB Chairman Engineer Khaled Mahmood, Director General of Power Cell Engineer Mohammad Hossain and officials concerned were present.
