KUSHTIA, Jan 20: Jhaudia Shahi Mosque is an old mosque in the district which attracts people from different areas.
It is not known when the mosque was built. But, the structure of the mosque hints that it might be built 250 years ago although it had gone through several renovations and lost most of its antiquity.
This is mainly a rectangular shaped mosque having a dimension approximately 16m X 6m. The mosque has a three dome atop and three entrances from the eastern side.
Local people believe that the mosque was built by God. The reason behind it is that there is no information about the builder of the mosque and when it was built. So a signboard was hanged near the mosque that says "No mosques were built by Allah; all were made my human".
Many people gather to visit the mosque every day. But there are not enough facilities for the visitors.
Kirmat Ali of Moshan Village in Mirpur Upazila of the district said, "I swore that if my granddaughter is born well, I will sacrifice a goat in this mosque. So, to protect the promise, I slaughtered the goat and distributed the mutton among the poor people who come to this mosque for praying."
