Ashraf Shishir’s new film on Liberation War

A new film by Ashraf Shishir is on cards. Based on the Liberation War of 1971 the film has already got censor board's approval. The big news is that the National Award winning director has already booked screens at three Indian international film festivals in this very month of Language Movement for the film titled 'Juddhota Chhilo Swadhinotar'. Though translated as 'The war was about liberation' the English name of the film is 'The Unsung.' Having a forty-seven minute runtime, the film has been dubbed a featurette by the filmmaker.
The Unsung, has been selected for Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival starting in Mumbai. It will also take part in Golden Triangle International Film Festival in Bhubaneswar, India from February 9 to 12. Then the film would participate in the International Film Festival of MP (Madhya Pradesh). The festival will run from February 20 to 22 in the Indian city of Indore. The director claims that the film has been screened in a number of other film festivals by now.
Based on the final days of the Liberation War in 1971 the film zooms on the Hardinge Bridge of Pabna. Built on the river Padma one span of the bridge was blown up by the Freedom Fighters with support from the allied air-force to impede the descending Pakistani forces towards the central zone of the final battle, Dhaka. A piece of cartouche of the bomb is still available at the Ishwardi Pakshi Railway Office.
Actors of the film are Aranya Rana, Imran, Shoma, Banya, Shajib, Manik, Shuvo, Panna, Dwip, Rabbi, Sachchu, Alok, Al-Amin, Hasan and more. Music has been directed by Rafayet Newaz. The film has been shot by Nahid Babu and Samar Dhali with Sabbir Mahmud as the editor.
