Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) early Friday detained two suspected human traffickers and 30 Rohingyas when they were being trafficked to Malaysia by sea from Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.
Acting on a tip-off, two seperate teams of BGB conducted drives in Shah Parir Dwip Gholarchar and Noakhaliapara.
In Gholarchar drive, the BGB men detained a trafficker and 12 Rohingyas including three males, six females and three children.
Another trafficker and 18 Rohingyas were held from a bush in Noakhaliapara.
The Rohingyas were waiting to board on Malaysia-bound trawlers.
The suspected traffickers are: Muhibulla,20, son of Habibullah in Jahajpura area under Teknaf, and Humayun,18, son of Abdul Karim of Damdamia village.
confirming the matter, Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion commander Lt Col Asaduzzaman Chowdhury said legal action will be taken against the detainees.
