100th birthday of Bangabandhu, Nat’l Children’s Day celebrated

The 100th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day was celebrated in the districts of the country with much enthusiasm and in a befitting manner on Sunday.
On 17th March in 1920, the greatest Bangalee of all times was born in a respectable Muslim family at Tungipara Village of Gopalganj sun-division, now district. He was the third among four daughters and two sons of his parents- Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and Saira Khatun.
BARISHAL: On the occasion, Barishal City Corporation (BCC) Mayor Serniabat Sadik Abdullah placed wreaths at Bangabandhu's portrait in the morning.
A colourful children rally was brought out from Bangabandhu Udyan that paraded main roads of
the city.
Other programmes included hoisting of national and party flags atop Awami League (AL)  office.
District administration with the help of Women and Children Affairs Directorate and district Shishu Academy arranged discussion meeting, cultural competition and function, and prize giving ceremony to mark
the day.
BAGERHAT: A colourful rally was brought out from Central Shaheed Minar that paraded the main roads of the town, and it ended at Swadhinota Udyan.
Other programmes of the day included discussion meeting, special offerings at all religious places of the district, supply of special menu to government child home, and essay competition at all educational institutions of the district.
BOGURA: District administration brought out a rally in the town in the morning.
A discussion meeting was held at Bogura Zila School where Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Fayez Ahmad, Police Super (SP) Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, Additional DC (Revenue) Alimun Rajib, Zila Parishad Chairman Dr Mokbul Hossen, district AL General Secretary (GS) Mojibor Rahman Maznu, and Joint GS Ragebul Ahman Ripu spoke.
Besides, Bogura Press Club organised a discussion meeting at club auditorium where its Vice President Abdul Motaleb Manik was in the chair.
Later, local Shishu Academy organised a children's art competition marking the day.
CHUADANGA: District administration organised different programmes marking the day.
In the morning, a colourful rally led by DC Gopal Chandra Dash was brought out in the town from his office premises, and it ended at local Shilpakala Academy after parading the main roads of the town.
A cake was cut and a discussion meeting was held on Shilpakala Academy premises where DC Gopal Chandra Dash was present as chief guest while ADC Farhad Hossain was in the chair.
Among others, SP Mahbubur Rahman, Principal of Chuadanga Government College Md Kamruzzaman, District Freedom Fighter Commander Abu Hossain, President of District Bar Association Nurul Islam, and Chuadanga Municipality Mayor Obaidur Rahman Chowdhury Jipu were also present and spoke on the occasion.
A cultural programme was also held at Shilpakala Academy.
Besides, special prayers were offered in all mosques of the district after Zuhr prayers.
CUMILLA: District administration, district police, and different socio-cultural organisations placed wreaths on Bangabandhu's mural.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at Town Hall where DC Md Abul Fazal Mir was in the chair and lawmaker of Sadar Constituency AKM Bahar Uddin Bahar was chief guest.
District police cut a cake at local police lines at noon.
Another discussion meeting was held at police lines where SP Syed Nurul Islam was in the chair while Vice Chancellor of Cumilla University Prof Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury was chief guest.
Among others, DC Md Abul Fazal Mir, and Civil Surgeon Dr Mujibur Rahman also spoke in the meeting.
Besides, Border Guard Bangladesh, Cumilla Sector Commander Colonel Alimul Karim Chowdhury, 10 BGB Commander Lt Colonel Abu Mohammad Mohiuddin also spoke in a discussion meeting held at Border Guard Public School Auditorium.  
GAIBANDHA: Marking the day, district administration, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Zila Shilpakala Academy, Health Department, Islamic Foundation, Social Services Department, District Information Office, Jatiya Mahila Sangstha, AL and socio-cultural organisations arranged different programmes.
The programmes included hoisting of national and party flags atop party office, placing wreaths on Bangabandhu's mural, bringing out colourful rally, arranging art and hand writing competition and prize distribution.
The programmes also included milad and doa mahfil, special offerings at different religious places, blood donation, cultural function and serving improved diets to government shishu paribars.
Besides, a discussion meeting organised by district administration was held on the premises of Independence Square in the town with ADC (Revenue) Tofayel Hossain in the chair.
DC Abdul Matin spoke at the function as chief guest while SP Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah and Gaibandha Municipality Mayor Advocate Shah Masud Jahangir Kabir Milon were present as special guests.
SP Abdul Mannan Miah said Bangabandhu's works and ideology will remain everlasting. He put emphasis on building the young generation with the ideals of Bangabandhu.
HABIGANJ: District administration and district police placed wreaths on Bangabandhu's portrait in front of district AL office.
At that time, district AL President Advocate Md Abu Zahir, MP, DC Mahmudul Kabir Murad, SP Mohammad Ullah, Zila Parishad Chief Executive Kuddus Ali Sarker, Deputy Director of local government Md Shafiul Alam, ADC (Revenue) Nurul Islam, ADC (General) Fazlul Zahid Pavel, former Habiganj Municipality chairman Shaheed Uddin Chowdhury, Executive Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department Abu Zaker Mohammad Sikander, district AL Joint GS Advocate Lutfur Rahman Talukder, and Publicity Secretary Anup Kumar Deb Mona were also present.
JOYPURHAT: On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from local circuit house that paraded the main roads of the town and ended on Shaheed Dr Abul Kashem ground.
A discussion meeting was held at the same venue where district AL President Advocate Shamsul Alam Dudu, MP, was chief guest.
Among others, SP Md Rashidul Hasan, Zila Parishad Chairman Arifur Rahman Rocket, and district AL GS SM Solaiman Ali were present as special guests.
Local Shishu Academy organised essay writing and art competition for children.
Special offerings were held at different religious places.
KHULNA: To mark the day, District Administration brought out a rally led by Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Khulna City Unit Awami League President Talukder Abdul Khaleque from KDA New Market and ended at Khulna Shaheed Hadis Park where they placed wreaths at the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Afterwards, a children gathering, a discussion meeting and a cultural programme were held at Shaheed Hadis Park.
While addressing the meeting as chief guest, Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque said through the dynamic leadership, Bangabandhu had organised the Bengali nation to fight against exploitation and repression by the Pakistani rulers. The movement culminated in independent Bangladesh through the nine-month Liberation War in 1971.
Chaired by DC Md Helal Hossain, Secretary of Shipping Ministry Abdus Samad, Divisional Commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia, Zila Parishad Chairman Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, and acting Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Sarder Rakibul Islam spoke as special guests.
Improved diet was served to all orphanages, hospitals and jail, and special prayers were offered at all religious places.
AL and its front organisations, KICC, Khulna WASA, Khulna University, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology and other educational institutions, Khulna Betar, Khulna Shishu Academy, Khulna Union of Journalists and Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum also observed similar programmes marking the day.
KISHOREGANJ: On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out in the town.
A discussion meeting was held on Kishoreganj Old Stadium premises.
DC Md Sarowar Murshed Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
Among others, Rezwan Ahmed Toufic, MP, District AL President Advocate Kamrul Ahsan Shajahan, GS Advocate M A Afzal, SP Md Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, BPM (Bar), Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Md Zillur Rahman, ADC (General) Tarafder Md Akhter Jamil, Additional District Magistrate Md Habibur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mahdi Hasan, former district freedom fighter commander Md Asad Ullah, Advocate Bhupendra Bhowmik Dolon, Public Prosecutor Shah Azizul Hoque, District Krishak League GS Anwar Hossain Bacchu, District Mahila AL Joint Convener Bilkis Begum, and Kishoreganj Press Club Member Secretary Monour Hossain Rony spoke on the occasion.
District AL organised various programmes including hoisting of national and party flags atop their office.
LALMONIRHAT: Students of Shibram Adarsha School brought out a colourful rally in the town.
After the rally, an art competition of children was held on the school ground.
Among others, Director of the school Rashed Ahmed, and President of school managing committee Aminur Rahman were also present in the programme.
LAXMIPUR: A colourful rally was brought out from District Collectorate Building premises that paraded the main roads of the town and ended at Jhumur Cinema Hall area.
Later, a discussion meeting was held on Collectorate Building premises where ADC Mohammad Shafiuzzaman Bhuiyan was in the chair and DC Anjan Chandra Pal was chief guest.
Among others, SP ASM Mahtab Uddin, Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr Mostofa Khaled Ahmad, district AL President Golam Faruk Pinku, GS Advocate Nuruddin Chowdhury Nayan, freedom fighter Joynal Abedin, and President of Bangladesh Chhatra League, district unit Shahadat Hossen Sharif were present as special guests.
Earlier, a 50 pound cake was cut.
NETRAKONA: On the occasion, district administration, district police, Zila Parishad, Netrakona Municipality, district AL and different socio-cultural organisations placed wreaths on Bangabandhu's portrait at Mokterpar Mukta Mancha in the town.
Later, a colourful rally was brought out from the same place that paraded the main roads of the town and ended at Public Hall.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the same venue where Vice Chancellor of Sheikh Hasina University Prof Rafiq Ullah Khan was chief guest and DC Moin-Ul Islam was in the chair.
Among others, SP Joydeb Chowdhury, BPM (Service), and Netrakona Municipality Mayor Nazrul Islam Khan also spoke in the meeting.   
PANCHAGARH: A rally was brought out from Circuit House premises on Sunday morning that paraded different roads of the town and ended at the same place through placing wreaths on Bangabandhu's mural.
District administration, district police, different government and non-government organisations, Awami League and its front organisations and various socio-cultural organisations also placed wreaths on the mural.
A discussion meeting on the life and works of Bangabandhu and the historic March 7 speech was held at Mukta Mancha with ADC (General) Mohammad Golam Azam in the chair while DC Sabina Yasmin was present as chief guest and SP Giasuddin Ahmed, and Zila Parishad Chairman and GS of district Awami League Anwar Sadat Samrat were special guests.
Among others, CS Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Amirul Islam, freedom fighters ATM Sarwar Hossain, Ismail Hossen and Abu Jaker also spoke at the meeting.
Zila Parishad Member Aktarunnahar Saki conducted the meeting.
Earlier, a 99 pound cake was cut at the same venue.
PIROJPUR: On the occasion, three-day long programmes were inaugurated in the town.
Floral tributes were offered at the portrait of Bangabandhu in the town on Sunday morning.
A colourful rally was brought out from Bangabandhu Chattar that paraded the main roads of the town and ended on Town Club premises.
DC Abu Ali Md Sazzad Hossain attended the programmes as chief guest while ADC (General) Md Mostafizur Rahman was in the chair.
Among others, SP Mohammad Salam Kabir, Pirojpur Municipality Mayor Alhaz Md Habibur Rahman Malek, and district AL GS Advocate MA Hakim Hawlader were also present in the programmes.
Besides, district AL organised a cake cutting function and a discussion meeting.     
On March 18, drama contest for children, film show on the life of Bangabandhu and cultural function and on March 19, drawing contest, discussion meeting, prize giving and cultural function will be held.
RAJBARI: Speakers at a meeting here on Sunday said Bangabandhu fought till his death to build the country with the spirit of the Liberation War.
They were addressing a meeting organised by district administration and district AL at District Acrobatic Centre Auditorium to mark the 99th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day.
Besides, a doa and milad mahfil was held on district AL office premises.
The programme was addressed, among others, by Fakir Abdul Jabbar, Advocate Md Nawab Ali, Md Shafiqul Islam and Advocate Jahurul Islam.
SIRAJGANJ: District administration brought out a colourful rally from Officers' Club premises that paraded the main roads of the town.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at Shaheed M Mansur Ali Stadium where DC Kamrun Nahar Siddika was in the chair.
Among others, lawmaker of Sirajganj Sadar Constituency Dr Habibe Millat, SP Tutul Chakraborty, Sirajganj Municipality Mayor Abdur Rouf Mukta, and CS Dr Kazi Shamim were also present.
THAKURGAON: A colourful rally was brought out from DC office premises that paraded main roads of the town and ended on BD Hall premises.
Later, a discussion programme was held at BD Hall Room where DC Dr KM Kamruzzaman Salim was chief guest and ADC (Revenue) Aminul Islam was in the chair.
Among others, SP Moniruzzaman, District Child Affairs Officer Jobed Ali, Vice President of district AL Mahbubur Rahman Khokon also spoke.
The speakers discussed about the life and valuable works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Later, a children's gathering and a prize giving ceremony were held.
