Pledge renewed to build Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla

The 49th Independence and National Day was celebrated in the country on Tuesday, refreshing the pledge to uphold the spirit of the War of Liberation and build Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
BARISHAL: On the occasion, different political parties and socio-cultural organisations placed wreaths at the martyrs' monument.
Barishal Reporters' Unity honoured four freedom fighters, arranged a children's art competition and an exhibition of Liberation War documents and materials.
Barishal Press Club arranged a discussion meeting and a sweetmeat distribution among journalists.   
In the morning, a march past and a physical display by the students of different educational institutions were held at Bangabandhu Uddyan. Divisional Commissioner Ram Chandra Das took salute as chief guest.
Other programmes included decorating buildings with lights, special prayers at religious institutions, special dish at hospitals, jail and orphanage, discussion meetings, and cultural function.
BHOLA: To mark the day, former commerce minister and lawmaker of Bhola-1 Constituency Tofayel Ahmed hoisted national flag at Gaznabi Stadium in the town in the morning.
At that time, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Masud Alam Siddiqi, and Police Super (SP) Md Mokter Hossen were also present.
Later, a grand march past was held at the stadium participated by members of police, BNCC, Ansar-VDP, scouts, girls guide, shishu paribar, shishu sadan, and students of different educational institutions.

CHUADANGA: Marking the day, district administration, Chuadanga Municipality and different political and socio-cultural organisations arranged various programmes.The programmes started through 31 gun salutes at 6am on Sadar Police Station premises. National flags were hoisted atop all public and private buildings in the town.
A march-past was held in Chuadanga Stadium at 7:30am, participated by members of police, Ansar-VDP, students, Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), girls guide, boy scout, and members of shishu paribar and Mukul Fouz.
National Anthem was sung at the stadium by students, teachers and people from all walks of life, where DC Gopal Chandra Dash was present as chief guest.
A reception was accorded to the freedom fighters and the family members of their martyred ones on local Shilpakala Academy premises at 11am.
Documentary film show based on Liberation War was screened at two local schools.
Improved diets were supplied to local hospital patients and inmates of local jail and orphanages.
Special munajat was offered at all local mosques after Zuhr prayer.
Sports and drawing competitions were also held.
A discussion meeting was held at local Town Hall with DC Gopal Chandra Dash in the chair while lawmaker of Chuadanga-1 Constituency Solaiman Haque Joarder Selun was present as chief guest.
Among others, SP Mahbubur Rahman, Additional DC Farhad Hossen, Chuadanga Municipality Mayor Obaidur Rahman Chowdhury, and Sadar Upazila Chairman Asadul Haque Biswas were also present and spoke on the occasion.
The speakers including chief guest urged all to work together to build Bangabandhu's 'Sonar Bangla'. They also said the government should complete the trial of war criminals and execute of judgment of the court as soon as possible.
A cultural function was also held in the evening on Shilpakala Academy premises.
CUMILLA: On the occasion, local lawmaker AKM Bahauddin Bahar, lawmaker of women's reserved seat Anjum Sultana Sima, DC Md Abul Fazal Mir, and SP Syed Nurul Islam placed wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar on city's Town Hall ground in the morning.
Besides, different political parties and socio-cultural organisations placed wreaths at the same place.
A march past was held at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium.
Besides, freedom fighters were accorded reception on DC's house premises.
FENI: On the occasion, Sonagazi Samity, Dhaka organised a free medical camp on Bishnupur High School ground in Sonagazi Upazila on Tuesday morning where about 5,000 patients received treatment and medicines for free.
Vice President of the Samity Nazmul Karim Dulal presided over the programme while President of the Samity and lawmaker of Feni-3 Constituency Lt General (Retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury was chief guest.
General Secretary of the Samity Engineer Aminur Rashid Chowdhury Masud inaugurated the programme.
Later, the guests inaugurated the newly-building of Bishnupur High School.

The day began with 31 gun salutes at dawn on Boyra Police Lines Ground in the city.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia hoisted the national flag on Khulna Zila School Ground and took salute from a parade.
Khulna Shishu Academy and Khulna Shilpakala Academy organised art and painting competitions for children on the occasion.

MEHERPUR: The day was heralded with 31 gun salutes at dawn at Dr Shaheed Samsuzzoha Park in the down town.
National flag was hoisted atop all public and private buildings.
Political parties and socio-cultural organisations placed wreaths at monument in the town.
A march-past comprising police, Ansar-VDP, BNCC, rover and boys scout, girls guide, and students of different educational institutions and inmates of public orphanage was held at local stadium where DC Ataul Gani and SP Mostafizur Rahman took salute of the march past.
A reception was accorded to the valiant freedom fighters and a discussion meeting was also held at local Shilpakala Academy. The meeting was followed by a lively cultural function.
Special prayer was offered at different religious institutions. Rich dishes were served to the inmates of jail, hospital and public orphanage.
