Trader Jugol Saha of Municipal City informed that this year they are selling unripe and wet maize at Tk 350 - Tk 400 per maund and dry maize at Tk 600 - Tk 700 per maund. Price increased at Tk 30 - Tk 50 per maund.
Agriculture Officer of Kazipur Upazila Rezaul Karim said that they are encouraging the farmers to grow Rabi crop maize in little amount of water in order to save the underground water.
He also said that they have given inceptives to hundreds of farmers to cultivate maize. He expects to grow more maize in the coming years.
Deputy Director of the DAE Md Habibul Haque said that farmers get fascinated towards the cultivation of that crop from which they can earn profit in lower cost and effort.
He also said that since they got incentives for growing maize, the cultivation of high-yielding maize has increased. Especially in char areas, the farmers are growing more maize.
He also expects that the cultivation will increase in the coming years.
