
Noted Tagore artiste Kamal Ahmed enthralled the audience with his beautiful and soulful voice at a musical evening held at Bangladesh National Museum on June 15. He presented a collection of beautiful Tagore songs based on the Rainy Season.
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), High Commission of India, Dhaka, organised the musical soiree titled 'Borshaar Bhalobasha' based on beautiful songs of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. The singer accompanied by Subir Ghosh on Tabla, Rabin Choudhury on Keyboard, Sunil Chandra Das on Harmonium, Md Nasir Uddin on Guitar and Shadat Hosssain on Percussion.
Kamal Ahmed held the audience spellbound by rendering some songs like Abar Eseche Asar, Nishi Na Puhate, Badol Diner Prothom Kadom Phul, Asa Jaur Pother Dharay, Asar Sondha Ghoneya Elo, Ai Udasi Haour Pothe Pothe, Aji Srabonghonogohon Mohe, Jodi Jantem Amar Kiser Betha, Aji Jorer Rattey, Amar Jibonpatru Ucchuliya Madhuri Korechu Dan, Chaya Ghonyche Boney Boney, Amar Poran Jaha Chay and others.
Kamal Ahmed is better known as a devoted Tagore singer. He is associated with "Chhayanaut", an iconic cultural organisation committed to build up music talents, especially Tagore singers. There he got associated with veteran Tagore singers like Wahidul Haque, Sanjida Khatun, Ikhtiar Omar, Serajus Salekin and others. He received lessons on classical music from Ustad Phool Mohammad. He is the former adviser of "Rabindra Sangeet Shammilon Parishad". He got five prestigious awards. SAARC Cultural Society Award, Bangabandhu Gobeshona Foundation Award, Adwaitia Mallabarman Award from Maharaja Birbikram University, India, Beer Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Award from Agartala, Tripura, India, FOBANA Award from Canada.
