Syed Hasan Imam’s autobiography launched

Syed Hasan Imam is a well-known actor, director, social and cultural activist, organiser and elocutionist. This amazing personality was born in 1935. He started his film career with the film 'Dharapat' in 1961. He went on to act in films like 'Raja Elo Shohorey', 'Shiit Bikel', 'Janajani', 'Ujala', 'Kagojer Nouka', 'Anarkoli', 'Ghuddi' and 'Sareng Bou'. He debuted in direction with the film 'Lalon Fakir' in 1972. He is well respected for his contributions to the clandestine Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. He was honoured with the 'Bangladesh National Film Award for Lifetime Achievement' in 2014. He has also received many other prestigious awards including 'Ekushey Padak' and 'Bangla Academy Honorary Fellowship'. Achieving the highest civilian award, 'Swadhinata Padak' for his contribution in the war of liberation in 1971, was another wonder. He will be cherished forever for his remarkable contributions in the cultural arena of Bangladesh.
Under the title "Akash Amay Bhorlo Aloy", the multi dimensional personality's autobiography was launched on June 30 at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segunbagicha in the city. Apart from the book launching ceremony, a documentary on Syed Hasan Imam titled 'Binamro Manush Bikkhubdha Shilpi', directed by Sangeeta Imam (daughter of Hasan Imam), was screened at the event.
The programme was attended by, among others, former Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, thespian Nasiruddin Yousuff, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Ghulam Quddus, Syed Hasan Imam's wife and eminent dancer Laila Hasan, writer-politician Nuh-ul-Alam Lenin and others. A number of eminent poets, writers, journalists, social and cultural activists were also present at the event.
The speakers said Hasan is simple by nature and an avid nature lover. He easily understands the psyche of the middle class. He is not only successful in cultural organiser but also in TV, films, plays and movies. His unique style of acting draws young actors. He is a man of integrity and honesty. His cultural and political activism inspired many of our generation.

He was honoured with the Bangladesh National Film Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2014. He has also received many other prestigious awards including Ekushey Padak (1999) and Independence Award (2016).
