Random auto-rickshaw stands on Bagha roads increase commuters’ plight

RAJSHAHI, July 7: Random auto-rickshaw stands on different roads in Bagha Upazila of the district are increasing commuters' plight.
Due to lack of permanent stand, the auto-rickshaws which are mainly run by battery are parked on the roads randomly. Students of different educational institutions suffer much.
The auto-rickshaw stands are seen in many areas including Bagha Municipality intersection, old bus stand, Bagha-Mashidpur intersection, Taltala intersection of Arani Bazaar, Dakkhin Matha intersection, Girls School intersection beside Digha-Arani road, Boral Bridge intersection beside Puthia-Arani road, and Bagha Thana intersection beside Bagha-Arani road.
Microbus driver Bazlur Rahman said people suffer for the stands. Sometimes unexpected incidents happen.
Lecturer Kabir Hossain said if the municipal authority takes steps, the people will be relieved from the plight.
Hamidul Islam, convenor of Sushashoner Jonno Nagorik, Bagha Upazila Committee, urged the local administration to take steps for the sake of the people.
Abdur Razzak, mayor of Bagha Municipality, said there was an auto-rickshaw stand beside the bazaar where people did not suffer, but that situation is absent now.     
Muktar Ali, mayor of Arani Municipality, they have a plan to build an auto-rickshaw stand in the area.
Mohsin Ali, officer-in-charge of Bagha Police Station, hoped that local people will help administration to remove these illegal stands from the road.
