30 sacrificial cattle markets to be set up in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 03: Khulna District Administration and Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has taken preparation to set up a total of 30 hats in nine upazilas of the district to sell sacrificial animals ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Meanwhile, cattle traders started importing sacrificial animal as only nine days remain to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha, second largest religious festival of Muslims.
According to sources, KCC will set up lone cattle market at Zoragate area from August 6 which will run till morning on Eid day. The decision was taken recently at the general meeting of KCC with Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque in the chair.
The meeting also decided to set up close circuit camera in the market, fake currency identification machines and tight up security measures.
The meeting requested to Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) and district police authorities to take adequate security measures in and around the cattle markets. Khulna District Administration will set up other 29 traditional and makeshift cattle markets in nine upazila of the district.
The markets will be set up at Kharnia, Shahpur, Atharomile, Chuknagar of Dumuria Upazila, Chandkhali, Gadaipur, Kachikata, Zero point of Paikgachha Upazila, Bazua, Chalna of Dakop Upazila, Deulia, Gobindapur, Kalna, Ghughrakathi, Manadarbaria, Hogla of Koyra Upazila, Fultala Sadar upazila and Patherbazar Secondary School Ground in Dighalia Upazila, Ekhari at Terokhada Upazila, Baintala, Khutirhat, Upazila Sadar and Baroaria in Batiaghata Upazila and Amtala and East Bus Stand at Rupsha Upazila.
Police Super AKM Shafiullah said at least 2000 police personnel will be deployed in the cattle markets. The police was strictly asked to remain alert so that none can take any toll from cattle laden transports obstructing those on the highway.
