Khurshid Alam’s 50 Year journey in music

Md. Khurshid Alam, one of the legendary playback singers of Bangladesh music arena, has reached the mark of 50 year of his career on August 1. To celebrate this milestone, a programme titled 'Samoyiki', centered on Khurshid Alam, was telecasted on Channel i on August 30.  Abdur Rahman, was the anchor of the programme. On the programme, Khurshid Alam talked about his life, his music career and how he has reached out to this stage of fame.
He was born in Joypurhat district in 1946. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to Dhaka. Since then he has been living in Dhaka along with family. His uncle Dr. Abu Haidar Sajedur was the mentor of him. Although he is famous for modern music, he used to sing Rabindra Sangeet before the beginning of his career. In 1965, he performed Rabindra Sangeet for the first time in a musical soiree which was held at Sheikh Borhanuddin College.
By singing a playback in a film titled 'Agontuk', he made the debut of his career in 1969. The name of the song was 'Bondi Pakhir Moto'. The song was written by Sajedur Rahman and directed by Azad Rahman. Since then, he has gifted us many melodious playbacks. Some of the famous playbacks are- 'Chumki Cholechhe Eka Pothe', 'Chupi Chupi Bolo Keu Jene jabe', 'Jodi Bou Shajo go', 'Ey Akash Ke Shakkhi Rekhe', 'Churi Korechho Amar Mon Ta', 'Duti Noyone', 'Maago Maa Ogo Maa' and more. He said that 'Maago Maa Ogo Maa' is the most favourite song of him among these all playbacks.
