2 fish traders hacked dead in Meherpur

Two fish traders were hacked to death by miscreants in Sadar upazila of Meherpur on Wednesday night.        

The deceased were identified as Rokonuzzaman, 36, son of Idris Ali Master, and his cousin Hasan Ali, 42, son of Azad Ali Biswas, residents of Darbeshpur village.

Quoting locals, SM Murad Ali, superintendent of Meherpur police, said a gang of 10/12 equipped with lethal weapons attacked Rokon and Idris when they went to Shailmari beel around 11:30pm to see their fish enclosure.

The gang hacked the duo indiscriminately, leaving them dead on the spot.
Being informed, two teams from Sadar Police Station and Detective Branch (DB) police visited the scene and recovered the bodies.

Several injury marks were found on their bodies, the official said.                

Police suspect they might have been killed over previous enmity.
