Two drug dealers killed in 'gunfight'

Two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Jamal, 27, and Yunus, 21.
On secret information that a big consignment of Yaba pills was storing in Dakshin Damdamia area for smuggling, a team of BGB-2 conducted a drive there.

Sensing the presence of the team, the drug traders opened fire on BGB men, forcing them to fire back, said  commanding officer of BGB-2 Lt Col Mohammad Faysal Hasan Khan.

After the gunfight, the BGB team found bullet-bit Jamal and Yunus. Later, they died on way to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, said Faisal.

Police also recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets, two firearms, three bullets and three sharp weapons from the scene, the BGB official added.
