Former India fast bowler all-rounder Yograj Singh, who played one Test match and six ODIs got Life Time Achievement Award not for his cricket but his successful career in Punjabi films.
The 61-year-old Yograj Singh was felicitated in Australia on October 12 and the award was presented to him by Hughes McDermott. Incidentally, the awardee is a brother of ex-Australian pacer Craig McDermott.
"It is a Star of the Millennium and Life Time Achievement Award for my services to the film industry", he said on his return from Australia.
"I have done more than 100 films in Bollywood, pollywood and holiwood. I have been awarded these Life Time Achievement Award three times by Filmfare and PTC".
Father of Yuvraj Singh (also ex-all rounder) has also received 21 best actor awards so far.
During his visit to Australia, Yograj Singh also paid a visit to Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). In fact, Yograj Singh had made his international debut in Australia (Brisbane, against New Zealand in Benson & Hedges World Series Cup in December 1980).
"This was my first visit to Australia after 39 years. How can I forget this ground. Sydney was a venue where my son (Yuvraj Singh) and VVS Laxman scored 139 and 106 (not out) runs and India had won the ODI match against Australia by two wickets (2004)".
