ASM Abdur Rob-led JSD (Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal) faces split after JSD General Secretary Abdul Malek Ratan and other senior leaders blamed nexus with Jatiya Oikya Front as one of the main reason behind the schism.
However, Ratan on Saturday, claimed that they are the real JSD and the other faction, led by Rob, has made a nexus with the anti-liberation forces.
Addressing a press conference at Jatiya Press Club, Ratan said at first the alliance was formed as an electoral alliance. However, after the elections, the other faction started making closer relations with the alliance (led by BNP and Dr. Kamal Hossain), he said, noting that they (the other faction led by Rob) have refrained from practicing democracy and are now practicing individualism and nepotism.
Ratan said they announced a boycott of the party council convened by Rob on December 28 and will hold a separate party council on January 11.
JSD Joint General Secretary Ataul Karim Faruk read out a written statement while Senior Vice-President MA Gofran
and some other leaders were present at the press conference.  Pointing at Rob-led JSD, Ratan said they are moving for a new leadership in upazila, district, city and central committees flouting the party constitution, democracy for which majority of JSD became protesters.
