‘Maya-The Lost Mother’ releases in cinemas

This year's last film 'Maya-The Lost Mother' has been released on December 27 in 8 cinemas across the country. National award winning director Masud Pathik is the maker of this film, which is funded by the government of Bangladesh.
Audiences can watch the film at Blockbuster Cinemas (Dhaka), Shyamoli Cinema Hall (Dhaka), Balaka Cinema Hall (Dhaka), Cinescope (Narayanganj), Silver Screen (Chattogram), Sonia Cinema Hall (Bagura), Liberty Cineplex (Khulna) and BGP Cinema Hall (Sylhet).
The film is based on a painting named 'Naari' of noted artist Shahabuddin Ahmed and a poem titled 'Juddhoshishu' of poet Kamal Chowdhury. The storyline of the film revolves around the life and struggles of a Birangana. Birangana is a designation, given by the government of Bangladesh, of those women who were being raped during the Liberation War. In this movie, popular actress Jyotika Jyoti has played the role of Maya. Maya is the younger daughter of the Birangana. Noted actress Nargis Akter has played the role of Birangana. The movie also stars Pran Roy, Mumtaz Sorcar, Syed Hasan Imam, Shahadat Hossain Nipu, Jhuna Chowdhury, Nila Ferdous and others.
