Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday said there was political patronage of militants of Gulshan and Sholakia attacks. "The masterminds behind these attacks will be brought to justice soon," he said.
The Minister said this while speaking as chief guest at a discussion at the Krishibid Institution auditorium at Farm Gate in the capital on Friday.
The Home Minister said, "Certainly, there was political patronage of those who committed such incidents in the past or are indulging in such attacks. I want to say in clear terms, those we had nabbed recently confessed that they had been identified at times or now as Jamaat-e-Islami cadres and they had conducted the attacks."
"Not only the cadres of Jamaat-e-Islami, they are also cadres of banned militant outfits. You also know as to who have sheltered and indulged them to became militants. You have also witnessed the emergence of militant kingpin Bangla Bhai at Bagmara in Rajshahi. You also know better who were at the helm of our state affairs then," he added.
Asaduzzaman also said, "The country's police force should not be considered as they were in the past. The present security force is very skilled and professional."
He said when the militant groups were becoming active in the country a group alleged that militancy was the creation of the media.
"The killers of 1971, who had killed Banghabandhu in 1975, are now hatching conspiracy against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Our government is facing all conspiracies strongly," said the Home Minister.
"The masterminds behind the attacks will be brought to book soon. Like 1971, the country's people have got united at the call of Sheikh Hasina against militancy and terrorism," he said.
Militancy will be uprooted from the country through the united efforts of the people.
Dhaka City North unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) organised the programme marking the National Mourning Day commemorating the 41st anniversary of the martyrdom of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
