Former IGP AYBI Siddiqui dies

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AYBI Siddiqui alias Burhan Siddiqui died on Saturday midnight.
Iftekharul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Media and Public Relations Department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the news this morning.
Burhan Siddiqui, also a former secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources and Flood Control and the Local Government Division, had served as the IGP from September 1998 to June 2000.
Siddiqui was also the first civil peacekeeping contingent commander of Bangladesh. He took retirement from the government services in 2004.
He married Rehana Siddiqui in 1971. He has a son, Lutfi Siddiqui, who is now working as managing director of United Bank of Switzerland, and a daughter, Husna Siddiqui.    -BSS
