Four people murdered in three districts

Four people including a woman have been murdered in separate incidents in three districts- Narsingdi, Noakhali and Chandpur, in two days.
RAIPURA, NARSINGDI: Two people were killed and at least 30 others injured in a clash that broke out between two groups over establishing dominance in Kacharikandi Village of Raipura Upazila in the district early Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Hiron Mia, 35, son of Ashraf Mia, and Sabir Mia, 26, son of Marfot Ali. Both were residents of Kacharkandi Village in the upazila.
The clash broke out between one group led by former union parishad (UP) member Boro Shah Alam and another by Chhoto Shah Alam in the village at around 4am.
The clash soon took a violent turn when the two groups opened fire at each other. And during the exchange of fire, Hiron and Sabir, members of the second group, sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot, police said.
Upon information, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raipura Police Station (PS) Azizur Rahman, ASP Satyojit Bose of Raipura Circle and Raipura Upazila Nirbahi Officer visited the scene with a heavy police force.
ASP Satyojit said the situation is now under control now. Additional police have been deployed in the area. However, legal action will be initiated after a preliminary probe, the ASP added.
NOAKHALI: A local leader of Awami League (AL) was hacked to death by miscreants in Begumganj Upazila of the district early Thursday.
The miscreants also looted Tk 2.5 lakh in cash from him.
Deceased Abu Sayed Bhuiyan, 50, was the joint general secretary of Mirwarispur Union Unit of AL.
The deceased's son Imran Hossain said his father was the bus counter manager of 'Laal Sabuj Paribahan' at Chowrasta. Miscreants hacked him on the head while he was on a running motorcycle for home in Badi Gachhtala area under Mirwarispur Union at around 3am.
As he fell down from the vehicle, they hacked him in the hands and legs and cut off his tendons, leaving him dead on the spot.
The miscreants also looted cash Tk 2.5 lakh kept for his uncle's treatment, Imran added.
Being informed, police recovered the body in the morning and sent it to Noakhali 250-bed General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Begumganj Model PS OC Mir Zahidul Haque Roni confirmed the incident, adding that a police hunt is going on to nab those involved in the killing.
CHANDPUR: A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her son in Faridganj Upazila of the district early Wednesday while asleep.
Deceased Monwara Begum, 65, was a resident of Pashchim Barali area under Faridganj Municipality.
The deceased's son Momin Dewan, 42, went into hiding soon after the incident but, later, was caught by locals and handed over to police.
The incident went viral on social media after Faridganj PS OC Mohammad Shaheed Hossain had posted a picture of Monir on Facebook.
It was learnt that Momin has been suffering from mental disorder. He killed one Rubban 17 years back and served several years in jail in the murder case.
He hacked his mother Monwara to death with a machete in the house at early hours on Wednesday while she was asleep.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Chandpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
However, a case was filed with the PS in this connection, the OC added.
