Cops quizzing Khadiza to get terror information

Investigators are trying to find out the names of other godfathers, who might have been behind Gulshan cafe and Sholakia Eidgah attacks.
Law enforcers are trying to collect information from Abedatul Fatema alias Khadiza, wife of slain militant Tanvir Qadri of neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
An official of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told the Daily Observer on Sunday they are capable of finding out the root of militancy in the county.
The CTTC members recovered some highly confidential information from Tanvir's laptop, which includes list of the members of the suicide squad and their plan for such a specialised cell. All the 14 militants who were killed in two major incidents-the Gulshan attack and the police raid in Kalyanpur-were members of the suicide squad.
Khadiza, who was wounded during the raid in Azimpur earlier this month, said the neo-JMB members are trying to set up a new suicide squad to carry out major terror attacks, police has claimed she disclosed to the investigators of CTTC unit. The two other women suspects include Afrin alias Priyoti, wife of key militant suspect Nurul Islam Marzan.
The CTTC unit collected information from Khadiza and Priyoti, police source said.
Investigators told the Daily Observer on Sunday that neo-JMB now has a crisis of members to be used in suicide missions. Tanvir Qadri alias Abdul Karim, was planning to form cells to continue future missions.
Karim had begun carrying out targeted killings before going for a major attack. The attempted killing of a Hindu priest in Narsingdi was their first such crime since the Gulshan attack, police source said.
The neo-JMB militants are in disarray as their network has fallen apart following the deaths of several top leaders.
For targeted killings, they were planning to attack people of other religions. Ex-army major Zahidul, who was killed during the police raid in Mirpur, was in charge of training the suicide squad members, added the official.
"Police have already received information on a training camp for suicide squads in Dhaka. We are trying to locate the camp," said the official. In addition, the three female militants, all wives of senior leaders of the group, who were arrested during the Azimpur raid have also provided important clues, he added.
Police is now trying to arrest those four so that important clues on Karim's operations can be traced out, said the officials.
Using different names he rented flats at different parts of the city for the militants and the Bashundhara flat was one of those. Gulshan attackers lived at the flat immediately before the attack on July 1, police say.
Bangladeshi-Canadian Tamim accompanied the attackers up to a certain point in Gulshan from the Bashundhara hideout and left after bidding them farewell minutes before the café siege, according to investigators. Tamim along with his two associates were killed during a raid in Narayanganj on August 27.
