Syed Shamsul Haq laid to rest

Noted writer Syed Shamsul Haq was laid to rest at his birthplace in Kurigram on Wednesday afternoon.

The prolific author was buried adjacent to a green paddy field on the south side of main gate of Kurigram Government College at 4:30pm after the third Namaj-e-Janaza.

Earlier, the body of Haq was flown to Kurigram by an Airforce helicopter. The chopper landed at the Kurigram Government College ground at about 3:55pm.

Among others, administrator of district council Zafar Ali, Kurigram DC Khan Md Nurul Amin, Kurigram municipality mayor Abdul Jalil and superintendent of police Tabarok Ullah received the mortal remain of the poet.

At that time, poet's wife Anwara Syed Haq, son Dwitya Syed Haq, daughter-in-law, cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor, among others, were  present.

People from all walks of life paid last respect to their beloved poet at the college ground.
