Three SPs sent on forced retirement

Amid widespread talks over sending Information Secretary Md Makbul Hossain on forced retirement, the government has sent three police supers on forced retirement.

The Ministry of Home Affairs sent three SPs on forced retirement issuing three separate circulars on Tuesday (October 18, 2022).

Among them, Muhammad Shahidullah Chowdhury works at police super at Police Headquarters, while Md Delwar Hossain Mia and Mirza Abdullah Hel Baki work at police super at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

In its circulars, the Ministry of Home Affairs said they were given retirement from government services in the public interest in accordance with Section 45 of the 'Government Employment Act, 2018.'

As per Section 45 of the Act, the government may, at any time after the completion of twenty five years of service of a public servant, can retire an individual from service without assigning any reason, if deemed necessary in the public interest.

However, nothing was mentioned in the circulars whether those three officials would receive all the retirement benefits.

Earlier on Sunday, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mokbul Hossain was sent on retirement one year before the end of his government service.

Before that, CID's Additional DIG Sheikh Omar Faruque was sent on forced retirement on September 2 last year.
