Khairul Haque appointed Law Commission chairman for 3rd time

Former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque has been appointed as the chairman of Bangladesh Law Commission for the next three years.

He will work as the Law Commission chairman for three more years.

ABM Khairul Haque himself confirmed journalists about the matter on Wednesday (November 2, 2022).

The Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division under the Ministry of Law has issued an order reappointing him to the post of Law Commission chairman after extending his tenure on Sunday (October 27, 2022) last.

Khairul Haque was appointed as the Law Commission chairman for three years for the first time on July 24, 2013. Then his tenure was extended for three more years in 2016. This time, his tenure has been extended for three years again.

Justice Khairul will enjoy salary, allowance, and other benefits equivalent to those of the chief justice as the commission chairman.

Justice Khairul Haque was appointed as the 19th chief justice on September 27, 2010. He went on retirement on May 17, 2011.

During his tenure, he led the Appellate Division in delivering the verdict that the caretaker government system illegal and unconstitutional.

Khairul Haque was born on May 18, 1944 at Rajoir police station in Madaripur district.
