Contradictory statements of police and RAB over two recent important issues have created "doubts" in the minds of the public on the credibility of probes into various cases by the law-enforcers.
Criticism on the issue has flooded the social media, including facebook.
Criminal analysts emphasised on settlement of the disputed issues urgently, otherwise, they anticipate worst form of disorder among the forces.
Italian citizen, Cesare Tavella, was killed by unidentified miscreants at Gulshan in the city on September 28 last year.
After about nine months, the detective police submitted charge sheet before a Dhaka Court accusing BNP leader MA Qaiyum and seven others on June 27.
By this time, the Court had framed charges against them on Tuesday.
But on October 21, Director General of RAB, Benazir Ahmed, claimed that neo-JMB chief, Sarwar Jahan, led the killing of Tavella.
Sarwar Jahan sustained injuries during a RAB drive at Ashulia on October 8 and later died in a hospital.
Nevertheless, chief of DMP's Counter Terrorism Unit, Monirul Islam, ruled out both claims on Wednesday.
He said that Tavella was killed by the charge sheeted accused and Sarwar was a third-grade leader of neo-JMB.
It should be noted that RAB has a 10-year experience in combating terrorism while the Counter Terrorism unit has being doing so for the last six months.
On Monirul's statement rejecting RAB's claim, Mufti Mahmud Khan, Director (Legal and Media Wing) of RAB, said that RAB briefed journalist whatever the force found out and the police disclosed their findings.
" I have nothing more to say,"the RAB director said.
KM Humayun Kabir, a resident of the Kamrangirchar area, has said that he has doubt about the DB's stance.
The case of Tavella should be re-investigated as the RAB came up with a totally different statement.
"if the findings of the elite force are true, the detective police have intentionally accused some innocent people for the murder."
If the words of police are exact, the RAB has differed with the cop for extra interest, he added.
Tajul Islam, a computer engineer, said that he had doubt in the police probe.
Ibrahim Khan, a Chhatra League leader, has observed the contradictory statements of the two law-enforcing agencies as a "weakness in investigation."
Nur Khan Liton, Executive Director (acting) of Ain O Salish Kendra, said a lack of faith has been created among people for the contradictory statements of the two forces.
He sees an absence of coordination between police and RAB. "I think any force should be cent percent confirmed on any matter before making it public."
Liton said that the charge sheet of the police had many weaknesses.
He urged the Home Ministry to look into the matter with utmost importance.
Security Analyst Maj Gen (Rtd) Abdur Rashid said, "The different statements of the two forces indicate want of coordination between them. Their dissimilar statements are misleading the general public. That is why, there should be coordination among law-enforcers."
