Rajshahi University (RU) students started demonstration locking Sayed Nazrul Islam administration building of the campus on Sunday morning.

They took position in front of the building around 10:30am protesting attack on them by locals and police. They chanted different slogans at that time.

Around 10:45am, a section of students brought out a procession which paraded different roads of the campus.

Later, they marched towards the RU vice-chancellor's residence and sit-in there.
Amanullah Khan, a student of the RU, said, "Police personnel were found inactive during the clash incident, rather they fired tear gas shells and rubber bullets targetting us. Then the locals attacked us. If our demands are not met, we will continue the movement."

The demonstrators called the students to join with them through loud speaker.

Their demands include: justice for the attack on RU students by locals and police, stopping the entry of outsiders in the university and ensuring safety of the students, ensuring on-campus accommodation for all students.

According to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) staffers, they are treating some 86 persons who were injured during Saturday's violence at Binodpur Gate of the campus.

Meanwhile, a number of journalists including a reporter and a cameraperson of Channel 24, were injured in an attack while they were covering the incident this morning.
