Journalist ABM Musa's wife Setara Musa passes away

Late journalist ABM Musa's wife Setara Musa has passed away. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajewn. She was 83.

Setara Musa breathed her last at Anwar Khan Modern Hospital at Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday afternoon, said her daughter journalist Parveen Sultana Jhuma.

Jhuma said her mother had been suffering from lung infection. She left behind three daughters and a son.

Late Setara Musa worked as Women's Page editor at different newspapers including the Dainik Purbo Desh and Dainik Awaz during the Pakistan period. She was the eldest daughter of late pioneer journalist Abdus Salam. She was also invoved in many philanthropic works during his life.

The family sources said the namaj-e-janaza of Setara Musa would be held at Iqbal Road in Mohammadpur of the capital after Esha prayer on Tuesday. The body would be kept in freezing van at night on the ground floor of the house.

The body of Setara Musa will be taken to late ABM Musa's village home at village Kutubpur under Fulgazi upazila in Feni district on Wednesday morning. She will be buried beside her husband's grave at their village home at Kutubpur in Feni district.

Jatiya Press Club president Farida Yasmin and general secretary Shyamal Dutta expressed profund condolence at the death of Setara Musa.

Noted journalist ABM Musa died on April 9, 2014. During his long career, he worked as news editor at the Bangladesh Observer, director general of Press Institute of Bangladesh, and chief editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha. He worked as a journalist for six decades.
