Bangladesh's health sector major den of corruption: GM Quader

Bangladesh's health sector is a major den of corruption, said Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman and deputy leader of the opposition in parliament Golam Mohammad Quader.

He observed that doctors were being affected most for corruption in the health sector.

"Bureaucrats and businessmen attached to the health sector have been laundering huge amount of money," he said.

According to GM Quader, corruption was happened more than that of success in dealing with COVID-19 which was released by Transparency International Bangladesh.

GM Quader was speaking after more than one hundred physicians led by Dr Zahidul Bari went the party's Banani office to join Jatiya Party. A that time, an organisation called "Jatiya Chikitshak Parishad" was floated. The JaPa chairman welcomed the doctors joining the party.

Those who joined JaPa included Professor Dr Asgar Hossain, Prof Dr Siddiqur Rahman, Prof Dr Shahidul Huq, Dr Asaduzzaman, Dr Mamunur Rahman, Dr M Imtiaz, Dr M Jabed, Dr M Faisal, Dr M Asad, Dr Ismail Hossain, Dr Mahfuz Alam, Dr Fahad Khan, Dr Rafi, Dr Durjoy, Dr Bibek Banik, Dr Iran, Dr Ashique, Dr Abdullah, Dr Shoaib and Dr Minhaz.

Besides, the joining programme was addressed by JaPa secretary general Mujibul Huq Chunnu, co-chairman Syed Abu Hossain Babla, presidium members Shafiqul Islam Sentu, Dr Mostafizur Rahman Akash, Lt Col Taslim uddin and Dr Zafar Siddiqui, among others.
