34 shops gutted in Gopalganj fire

At least 34 shops were gutted in fire that broke out at Ghagar Bazar in Kotalipara of Gopalganj district on Saturday night. 

Kotalipara Fire Service Team Leader Md Sirajul Islam said the fire originated from oil depot in front of the Jamuna Bank at Ghagor Bazar of the upazila around 10 pm on Saturday. 

Being informed, three units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire after two hours. But reason behind the incident could not be known immediatly. At least 34 shops, including three jewellery  shops, were gutted during the incident.


Owners of the shops claimed that valuables worth Tk 10 crore were damaged in the fire incident.
Kotalipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ferdous Wahid said they will sent a list of affected shop owners to the district administration for financial support.
