BNP expels Rupon for life for contesting upcoming Barishal city polls

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled its leader Quamrul Ahsan Rupon for life for taking part in the upcoming Barishal City Corporation election as independent mayor candidate going against the party decision.

The party issued a notice, signed by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, in this regard on Saturday.

The party is taking organisational action against Rupon as he is participating in the Barishal city polls, slated for June 12, ignoring its decision, the notice said.

On June 2, BNP served a show-cause notice to Quamrul Ahsan Rupon. But as his explanation was not satisfactory, the party decided to expel him.
