Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on June 29

Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei have announced the date for celebration of Eid-ul-Azha.

These countries will celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha on June 29, Thursday.

The UAE-based Gulf News stated in a report on Sunday (June 18).

The sighting of the moon marks the beginning of the month of Zilhajj in which the Hajj is performed followed by Eid-ul-Azha. The first day of Eid-ul-Azha falls on the 10th day of Zilhajj. Arafat Day falls on the ninth day of Zilhajj.

One of the five pillars of Islam, Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every Muslim must make at least once in their lifetime if they are able to.

Malaysia

Malaysia on Sunday confirmed that Muslims in the country will be celebrating the first day of Eid-ul-Azha on Thursday, June 29.

Indonesia

The Indonesian Ministry of Religion Affairs confirmed that the moon had not been sighted and that the first date of Eid-ul-Azha is Thursday, June 29.

Brunei

The crescent moon was not seen in the Brunei sky on Sunday hence, Muslims in the country will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha 2023 on Thursday, June 29.
