A young man was reportedly stabbed to death by his rivals over previous enmity with some drug traders at Charmajardia in Rajshahi city on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Abu Syed, 30, a farmer and son of Amir Hossain Choukidar, a resident of Maddhyapara village under the municipality.
Quoting locals, Damkura Police Station officer-in-charge Mashiur Rahman said Abu Syed had previous enmity with some drug traders of the area as he used to protest against drugs abuse.

On Tuesday night, a gang of fifteen people including Shahin, Kabil, and Shamsul, equipped with sharp weapons, waylaid Syed near Charmazardia Harpara Bridge while he was returning home by a motorbike and stabbed him indiscriminately at around 9 pm, leaving him critically injured, he said.

Later, he was taken to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Being informed, police recovered the body and kept it at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The victim's wife lodged a case with the police station accusing some named persons and 7-8 unnamed persons in this connection, the OC added.
