A court in Rajshahi on Wednesday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment in a drug case.
At the same time the court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, they will have to suffer one month more in jail.
Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Anup Kumar Saha announced the verdict in the afternoon.
The convicts are Najibur Rahman, 40, and Jewel Islam, 42, hailed from Chapainawabganj Sadar.
Entazul Haque Babu, public prosecutor of the court, confirmed the matter.
According to the prosecution, on August 22, 2019, RAB arrested Najibar and Jewel along with five kg 23 grams of heroin in Sarengpur area under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.
Later, they were handed over to Godagari model police station.
A case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act with police station.
