Jamaat-e-Islami has not yet been given permission to hold a rally, but if they tries to hold the rally defying police bar, then legal action will be taken, said Md Asaduzzaman, Chief Additional Commissioner of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit.
"Additional police force have been deployed to avert any untoward situation," said Asaduzzaman while visiting Motijheel's Notre Dame-Arambagh intersection on Saturday morning.
Law enforcement agencies have been on high alert in Shapla Chattar area centering the Jamaat's rally since Friday night. They barricaded the entranceway to Shapla Chattar from the morning.
But around 8:40am, the party men removed the barricade in Arambagh intersection. Later, police again blocked the road removing the Jamaat men from there.
Visiting in the early hours, there found police barricade from Arambagh to Shapla Chattar way.
