Habiganj DC, Kaliganj police inspector, 2 OCs withdrawn

The Election Commission has decided to withdraw the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Habiganj, Kaliganj police inspector and two officers-in-charges in Chandpur and Madaripur ahead of national election.

Separate letters, signed by EC deputy secretary Md Mizanur Rahman, in this regard have sent to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and the senior secretary of the Public Security division of the home ministry.
In a separate letter to the senior secretary of the Public Security division, Debi Chanda, deputy commissioner of Habiganj, the OC of Matlab (North) police station in Chandpur district and OC of Dasar police station in Madaripur and Kaliganj police station's Inspector (Investigation) Rajeev Chakraborty have been instructed to withdraw.


According to the letter, the decision was taken to conduct the 12th parliamentary election in a free and neutral manner.

The EC also requested the ministry to appoint a suitable officer for the post, reads the letter.

Meanwhile, Debi Chanda, deputy commissioner of Habiganj, who has been working as the Returning Officer for the upcoming election slated for January 7.
