Bike rider killed as pickup van drags him in Meradia

A motorcycle rider was killed after a pickup van hit his vehicle and dragged him in the capital's Meradia area on Monday night.

The deceased was Mirazul Islam Ratul, 26.

The accident happened near Meradia Bazar at about 11:30pm.

Pedestrians rescued Mirazul and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared Mirazul dead.

The hospital sources said quoting the pedestrians that a pickup van hit the motorbike and dragged Mirazul for some distance.

Later, the pickup driver fled the scene leaving his vehicle.
