Fire breaks out in Khulna jute mill, 9 firefighting units deployed

A massive fire broke out at a jute mill at Dighalia upazila in Khulna district on Monday night.

The fire incident took place at 09:45pm at 'Zaman Jute Mill' in Nagarghat area under the upazila.
Being informed, nine firefighting units from nearby stations including Daulatpur and Dighalia rushed to the spot and managed to control the blaze around 11:15pm, said Assistant Director of Khulna Fire Service and Civil Defense Farooq Hossain Shikder.

Later, at around 1am, the fire service managed to douse the blaze fully, however, a team of the fire service is still at the spot for safety, he said.

The actual reason behind the fire could not be known yet and the extent of damage will be disclosed after investigation, he added.
