The electoral camp of Awami League nominated candidate for Gazipur -3 constituency Prof Rumana Ali Tusi reportedly set on fire in Narayanpur Bazar of Sreepur early Wednesday.
The leaders and activists of the AL candidate suspected that the supports of independent candidate Iqbal Hossain Sabuj, the incumbent MP, might have set fire to the election camp at around 3am.
They said locals douse the flame but chairs and table used in the camp were damaged.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur police station Shah Zaman said that police have visited the place on Wednesday morning. He said complaint has been filed yet in this regard regarding.
Meanwhile, Sreepur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shamima Yasmin, the assistant returning officer, after being informed, visited the site and instructed the Sreepur police to investigate the matter.
She said the upazila administration is also looking into it.
