Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Samity formed a human chain in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Tuesday protesting the case filed against a female journalist Swapna Rose.
Swapna Rose published a report on online news portal boishakhinews24.net on Kazi Saiful about the corruption of Capital capital market.
Later, Saiful filed a case against the journalist and allegedly harassed her in different ways.
To protest the incident, Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Samity formed the human chain, where its President Nasima Akhter Soma presided over the programme.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Omar Faruque was present in the programme and said they are with her and will take stand against any kind of offense came on her.
He said they will stand by if any journalist is harassed.
Swapna Rose said she had all authentic documents regarding the report she had published on the news portal. She requested the authorities concerned to analyze the report and took actions according to it.
Dhaka Journalist Union (DUJ) joint general secretary Khairul Alam, BFUJ executive member Ummul Wara Sweety, former Sub-Editors Council general secretary Sumon Islam,DUJ executive member Anwar Hossain, and other members of the Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Samity were present, among others in the programme.
