At last, the rain won as the second game of the three-match T20I series between Bangladesh and New Zealand was washed out due to rain at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

The on-field umpires had to call the match off as the weather conditions did not show any chance of improvement on Friday.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and sent New Zealand in to bat first after. Pacer Shoriful Islam continued his rich vein of form by removing Finn Allen for just two runs in the second over.

Tim Seifert then came down heavily on Bangladesh bowlers, to help the hosts recover and started taking control of the game.

However, Tanzim Hasan Sakib did not let him so easily by getting Seifert after he blasted 43 off 23 with six fours and one six. His dismissal stifled New Zealand as the home side reached 72-2 in 11 overs.

The rain then eventually washed out the match with Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips batting on 18 and 9 runs respectively.

The Tigers lead the series by 1-0, courtesy to their five-wicket victory in the first game. With the second match being abandoned, the third game, which will be held at the same venue on Sunday will be a decider of the series.
