Teen electrocuted celebrating 31st night

A teenager died from electrocution while celebrating December's 31st night at Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur on Sunday night.

The incident took place at around 8pm in Chuarikhola village under Tumulia union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Md Miraz, 17, son of Mobarak Hossain, a resident of the aforesaid village.

Quoting the deceased's brother, Kaliganj Police Station sub-inspector Md Kamal Hossain said Miraz came into contact with a live electric wire when he attempted to set a speaker to celebrate the 31st night.

He was rescued and taken to Kaliganj Police Station where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 9.15pm.

Later, the body was handed over to the family members without autopsy upon their request, added the SI.
