Sylhet bans all kinds of gatherings for 5 days during polls

A five-day ban has been imposed on all kinds of public meetings, gatherings and processions in Sylhet district ahead of the 12th national parliamentary election scheduled on Sunday (January 7).

A notice signed by Sheikh Russel Hasan, deputy commissioner of Sylhet,  issued on Thursday in this regard.
According to the notification, the ban on any form of public gatherings, meetings, processions, and rallies has been imposed for five days starting from 8:00 am on Friday.

The ban will remain effective until Tuesday afternoon (January 9), read the notice.

Legal action will be taken against those who violate the ban, it added.
