Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) president and 'Boat' symbol candidate Hasanul Huq Inu has got defeated to independent and 'Truck' symbol's candidate Kamarul Arefin at Kushtia-2 (Mirpur-Bheramara) constituency.
Inu participated in the election as a candidate of Awami League-led 14-Party Grand Alliance candidate.
Inu bagged 92,445 votes, while his nearest rival independent candidate Kamarul Arefin is ahead receiving 1,15,799 votes. The voting was held from 8:00am to 4:00pm without any untoward incident. Later, district returning officer and deputy commissioner Md Ehtesham Reza announced the results unofficially at the DC's conference room at 9:00pm after counting of votes.
The total number of voters in the constituency is 4,51,936, while the number of polling centres are 161.
It may be mentioned that Jasad president Hasanul Huq Inu got elected member of parliament with 'Boat' symbol three consecutive terms as a candidate of grand alliance.
