Man killed in bus-car collision on Dhaka Elevated Expressway

A man was killed and another injured in collision between a bus and car on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway in the capital on Monday evening.

The accident took place at around 6.17pm in between Mohakhali entry and Tejgaon exit ramps in East Nakhalpara section of the highway.
The deceased was identified as Milon Matabbor, 50, and the injured is Mahfuz, 35.

Quoting locals, Tejgaon Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Mohsin said the private car was heading towards Farmagate. On the way, a 'VIP 27 Paribahan' hit the car from behind as it's one tyre burst and stopped on the middle of the highway.

After being hit by the bus, the driver of the car lost control over the steering and lead to the head-on collision, leaving Milon and Mahfuz critically injured.

Later, Milon succumbed to his injuries after being taken to Kurmitola General Hospital and the injured Mahfuz was admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), he said.

Police seized the both vehicles from the spot, however, the bus driver managed to flee the scene, he said, adding that the legal proceedings are underway in this regard.
